My Process
I’ve been doing this a while and I work with similar types of clients with similar challenges and goals. This allows me streamline the entire process to make things clear, predictable, and most importantly—easy for you.
01.
Discovery call
Once you contact me, if it seems like we might be a good fit, we’ll schedule a discovery call. We’ll discuss we’re you’re at, challenges you’re facing, and your goals. I want to hear your story and get a solid understanding of your needs, so I can tell you more about how I can help.
02.
Proposal
I’ll send a proposal and client agreement so that you have a clear idea of the flat-rate price, what it includes, payment terms, turnaround estimate, expectations, and next steps.
03.
Onboarding
You’ll accept the estimate, sign the client agreement, pay any deposits, and we’ll schedule your project kick-off date. I’ll outline what I need from you to get started and we’ll discuss any other details before I dive in.
04.
Design & dev phase one
I’ll clone your live site and get started on the redesign and custom theme development. I’m pretty head-down during this phase doing my thing and reaching out to you as questions arise. My goal is to give you a fairly complete first-look at the end of this phase so you have a clear idea of the design direction. User experience, mobile responsiveness, site speed, and accessibility is top of mind at all times during this phase.
05.
Initial review & feedback
This is your opportunity to provide feedback and help shape the final version of your site. We’ll collaborate on specific design, user experience, and technical decisions. This plan will help guide the final phase.
06.
Design & dev phase two
I’ll continue refining the design and working out any technical aspects per our discussions. During this phase I will also be performing a full plugin audit and fine-tuning any additional UX, responsiveness, site speed, and accessibility considerations.
07.
Final review & feedback
You’ll review the latest changes and provide any additional feedback needed before we go live. I’ll make any necessary updates and perform final cross-browser testing.
08.
Web hosting
To set you up for success with your new site performance wise, you might need a new web host. We’ll discuss if that is necessary and if so, I’ll make a recommendation and help with the transition. We might also route your DNS through Cloudflare at the same time to speed things up even more.
09.
Launch
The moment has arrived! We’ll schedule a short few hour window where I will stage your current live site, apply the new theme, port over any other dev site changes, and then push your new site live!
10.
Training & support
I’ll provide a walk-through training video of anything you should know about editing your new site. Hint: it will be easier than before. You’ll also have up to 30 days to report any bugs or issues related to your new theme.
If you decide to “join the club” with one of my website care plans, then you’ll enjoy ongoing personal hands-on support and maintenance.
